Sean Mason

Principal Solicitor

LLM(Dist) LLB(Hons) BSocSc TEP

Principle of the firm, Sean has worked in Morrinsville since 2003 following his admission to the Bar and graduation from the University of Waikato where he completed a Bachelors in Laws with first class honours and his Bachelors in Social Sciences. Sean started SML in 2011. Sean enjoys having the opportunity to help clients achieve their goals, whether it is getting into their first home, levelling up their career or completing their estate planning.

Outside of work Sean enjoys flyfishing, listening to country music, biking and time spent with family and grandchildren.

Sean is proud to serve the Morrinsville community. He is highly involved in our local community through BNI, Rotary International- he has been a part of the Morrisville club since 2018. Sean is the Rotary president for 2025. Sean was also a board member for Morrisville Chamber of Commerce for 4 years.
Sean completed in Masters in Law with distinction in 2016 studying property, trusts and Dispute Resolution.

Andrea Mason

Office Manager and Trust Account Administrator

Andie is SML’s Practice Manager and trust account administrator. Andie is responsible for invoicing, management of client funds and staff oversight. Andie also ensures we are compliant with any Anti Money Laundering requirements.

Outside of Work Andie enjoys Pilates, gardening, bush walks and playing on her jetski. Andie is happiest when spending time in nature or with her grandbabies.

Andie says working in Morrinsville is like nothing else. Being in a small town you get the opportunity to really know your clients, they are more than a face that walks through the door or a name in the file. Andie enjoys working alongside the team and getting to assist our clients through all stages of life.

Vanessa

Vanessa has been with SML since she was 10, originally working in reception and scanning archived files. Vanessa started her legal studies at 17 and graduated from the University of Waikato with her Bachelors of Law with a minor in Psychology. Vanessa was admitted to the bar in 2023.

Outside of work Vanessa is a proud Aunty who enjoys an active lifestyle of fitness classes, horse riding and water skiing.

Vanessa has a keen interest in environmental and animal rights law. Vanessa is a board member of Morrinsville Community House and was an attendee of the Rotary Youth Leadership Award in 2025.

Vanessa is a member of the New Zealand Law Association, Family Law Section and is a New Zealand Animal Law Association Member.

Sonia

Sonia completed her Legal Executive studies in 2016 and joined the SML team in 2022. Sonia is head of our Conveyancing team, managing all files and assisting clients with their Property Transactions.

Outside of work Sonia enjoys Bonfire Friday nights with her friends and family. Sonia and her husband are sharemilkers with a herd of 240 cows and two kids who keep them busy. Sonia is a coach for her daughters Netball and Athletics Teams. She is also a board member for Morrinsville Community House.

Kayla

Kayla joined the SML team in 2017. Kayla is an integral part of the SML team, queen of the deeds, Kayla is responsible for the storage of documents, closure of files and assists the legal team.

Outside of work Kayla enjoys crochet, painting and spending time with her family and friends. Kayla has a young son, a strikingly handsome partner and 2 trouble-making cats who keep her busy and entertained.

Alicia

Alicia assists the legal team with file management and preparation of estate planning documents. Alicia previously worked at the IRD for 14 years.

Outside of work Alicia enjoys going to the gym, travelling and spending time with her friends, family and young children. Alicia has just got a new puppy which is keeping her and her partner entertained.

Casey-Leigh (Catt)

Catt has been with the SML team since the very beginning. Catt is passionate about helping people, she has recently completed certificates in New Zealand Sign Language. Catt is a part of our admin team. Generally assisting the legal team with file management and preparation of estate planning documents.

Catt is the proud mum of two girls, she enjoys reading and time spent with her family and friends.

Judy

Judy has recently moved to the Morrinsville area. Judy works as a legal executive, she has spent 40 years’ working in law firms in the King Country, Waikato and Bay of Plenty regions. Judy works in the estate administration, leases and annual trusts team.

Judy says her passion for the law and helping people has never faded.

Outside of work Judy enjoys cross words and time spent with her cat, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Jacky

Jacky works as administration support. Assisting staff with management of files and client correspondence.

Outside of work Jacky is an elder at her church, enjoys cooking, walking and sewing.

Jacky has three adult children and previously worked in education and administration roles.

Kaiser

As handsome as he is trouble.

Kaiser is head of our debt collection team. Outside of work Kaiser enjoys long walks on the beach and swimming in Lake Taupo accompanied with a stick.
